Cash and Employment Assistance (CAAP)

CAAP provides cash assistance to low-income adults without dependent children, adults that cannot work, and refugees.

Depending on eligibility, there are a number of benefits that may be available to CAAP participants, some of which include: 

  • Cash assistance of up to $520 per month

  • Access to job preparation, assessments, training, and employment counseling

  • Placement in a job with a guaranteed starting pay of at least $15 per hour

  • Education support and classes for GED and High School Diploma

  • Possible options for housing or shelter placement

  • Free monthly MUNI Fast Pass

  • One-time assistance obtaining a free California DMV Identification Card or Driver License

  • Assistance applying for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) from on-site case managers, if you have a long-term disability

  • Counseling for mental health, substance abuse, and domestic violence issues
